Family Devotions contribute to a Strong Church
Welcome to the Scott family. I woke up this morning reflecting on my childhood. I grew up with three brothers and one sister, and I was the oldest every night; we used to meet consistently around 8:00 PM as a family. We sang gospel songs, of which I still know about 50, such as Every Day with Jesus is Sweeter than the day before, His Name is Wonderful, Do Lord, and so on. And then, we would have a time of prayer where each of us would pray to God. I remember that as I got older, I resented having to participate in family devotions. I, of course, thought I was too old for that. Still, as I think back, my faith in God and being taught at a young age that God hears and answers prayer and sharing in the joy of music became my foundation for my faith in God. I encourage all families in individuals to consider taking a break every day and spending time with God.
If you are a mom and dad, having devotion before bed creates beautiful memories that your child will keep for the rest of their life. I was born in 1955, before Google, Cell phones, TV with antennas on the roof: no e-bikes, Chrome books, or YouTube, but a set of Encyclopedias.
